Dear
Friend;
We are pleased to invite you to the "Somali
Muslim Hate Crime Summit" scheduled on Saturday
July 12, 2008 (3-7 pm) at the Thistletown Multi-Services
Centre. This summit is organized by Somali-Canadian
Association of Etobicoke, in collaboration with
Dejinta Beesha and the Centre for Community Based
Research.
We are expecting approximately 200 people representing
different faith groups, business leaders, politicians,
community leaders, media and the members of the
Somali community to attend the summit.
A theatre presentation will showcase the reality
of Somali Canadian Muslims' experience with hate
incidents and crimes. Summit participants will discuss
strategies and next steps needed to prevent and
respond to such crimes.
It is an honour and privilege to invite you to join
us at the Somali Muslim Hate Crime Summit opening
at 3:30 pm. You may find this an excellent opportunity
to share with the participants your views on this
issue.
We look forward to your confirmation to join us
on that day. It will be an honour for us and indeed
for the Somali Muslim community. On behalf of our
community and organization, we would also like to
take this opportunity to thank you for supporting
the hate crime project.
Kindly RSVP by July 2, 2008 to our Program Coordinator,
Amina Yassin, at scae@somalicanadian.com or 416-742-4601.
Sincerely yours,
Osman
Ali
